Amanda Brugel

(February 27 2010 - Toronto ON) Pointe Claire is a sleepy community on this part of the island of Montreal known as the West Island. This part of Montreal is known as the West Island has a lot of communities. For those who haven't been aware of it frequently mistake it for a separate island facing west. Many times, it is credited as being the place of birth for Amanda Brugel but while that may be true, her time there was not long. Brugel was raised in Courtice close to Oshawa. In her early years she hoped to become the next big thing in her career, but a sudden growth spurt made it impossible. In an article published by Toronto Star, she revealed that in heels she was 6 foot 1 inch tall. After I surpassed my male counterparts and gave up, I decided to give up. A lot of former dancers go on to act. For Brugel, it was the encouragement by her drama instructor in high school who pushed her to the path she required. The teacher was the one who suggested she audition for the role of Anne in their annual school production. She was the teacher who suggested that she pursue a part the school's annual show. She was awarded a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship to go to York University's Theatre Program and graduated at the age of 20 with a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts. Since then, Brugel's been in over 60 productions both big and small. Most notable was when she landed Rita's role in The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the sole Canadian actor in the season 1 and only appeared at times.
